Nigeria’s third Head of State and founder of the interfaith
association “Nigeria Prays’, General Yakubu Gowon, has once again
enjoined Nigerians to “Go On With One Nigeria”, while delivering the
13th convocation lecture in honor of the NDA Golden Jubilee organized at
the NDA permanent site, Kaduna.
The icon of peace and advocate of one indivisible Nigeria spoke about
the part of Nigerian Defense Academy in Nigeria’s National Unity.

General Gowonsaid thatNDA has followed the principles of unity in variety since its beginning over its admission process which reproduces the federal character as preserved in the constitution of Nigeria.
He added that the Academy had ensured to be a fertile ground for
creating future leaders with national experience and world visions, even
as they are lucky to hearth long-term relationships and coalitions that
have estimably obliged the cause of unifying Nigeria in the past fifty
years.
General Gowon compared NDA with other higher establishments and said that at the Academy the previous national anthem still makes sense.
Yakubu Gowon congratulated the NDA for its ability in teaching a
number of important supplies for a military officer, such as developing a
sense of good judgment dependability, initiative, decisiveness, tact,
and integrity among others.
At the end of his lecture, he advised all Nigerians to always struggle hard to keep Nigeria one, which is a task that must be done as there is no choice but to “Go On With One Nigeria”.

General Yakubu Gowon was the head of state of Nigeria from 1966 to
1975. He took power after one military coup d’état and was overthrown in
another. During his rule, the Nigerian government successfully
prevented Biafran secession during the 1967–1970 Nigerian Civil War.
Recently he celebrated his 80th anniversary.
