Out-Going Minister of Enivironment, Amina Mohammed today formally handed over to Minister of State for Environment, Usman Jibril, as she moves over to the United Nations where she is to take up her appointment as the Deputy UN Secretary General. The brief handing over ceremony took place at the Ministry's headoffice in Abuja. A valedictory dinner was held in her honr at the state house Abuja yesterday night. The Lagos state High Court has sentenced 25 year old Oluwaseun Oladapo to death by hanging for murdering humanrights lawyer, Kunle Fadipe. The trial judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Atinuke Ipaye in her judgment, convicted Oluwaseun for murdering Fadipe at his residence in Harmony Estate near Karaole Estate, College Road in Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos state on July 3rd 2014. On the day that he was murdered, Fadipe was at home when they suddenly suffered a power outage. He then asked his son to go and turn on the generator. As his son made his way to the generator, a man armed with a knife accosted him and ordered him to take him to his father. As soon as the man got to Fadipe, he stabbed him in the neck and back. His daughter who was at home immediately ran out of the house and called for help. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have struck a Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) location at Tagoshe/Mandara Mountain general area about 10km Southwest of Gwoza in Northern Borno. According to a statement released today, an Intelligence report by sister surface forces, had it that remnants of fleeing BHTs were gathered at the location. This report was confirmed by NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft before combat platforms were called in to strike the location. Follow-up battle damage assessment confirmed that the air attack was successful as shown by the declassified footage of the operation.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Nollywood producer, Seun Egbegbe and one Oyekan Ayomide N5 million bail. Both men have been in police custody since February 2nd for defrauding some Bureau De Change operatives at Gbagada in Lagos. Ruling on their bail application today, the presiding judge, Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo said they should be remanded in prison until they fulfill their bail conditions. "Both accused should be granted bail of N5million with two sureties each in a sum of N2.5million. That is four sureties altogether. One of the sureties must be a civil servant who has attained level 16 while the other surety must be a land owner in any part of Lagos metropolis. The landowner must submit Certificate of Ownership of the landed property and while the civil servant must submit his international passport to the court. Claudio Ranieiri, who won Leicester's first premier league title last season, was shockingly sacked on Thursday night by the club's board of directors. Despite the club's poor start this season which has seen them battle with the relegation zone, most fans didn't expect Ranieri, FIFA's Best manager of the year, to be sacked because he delivered the club's greatest achievement last season. There was a massive protest in Sapele, Delta State this morning as residents of the community staged a protest over prolonged power outage and outrageous estimated bills. The angry protesters said they have not had power in the last one month, yet PHCN officials still bring outrageous bills to them. They blocked major federal roads that pass through their community. Several persons were seriously injured in an terrible accident involving a commercial bus belonging to Benue Links Transports Company on Thursday, February 23. It was gathered that the bus with lost control while on high speed and rammed into a nearby bush along Enugu road. One of the survivors, who spoke to Idoma Voice said they were heading to Port Harcourt when the accident occurred. "The bus somersaulted three good times but God stood for me and my friend, we came out with just a crash on our body. Others were seriously injured but we thank God we are still alive," the grateful survivor said.  More photos below...
