Abuja Residents File A Law Suit To Stop Tinubu’s Swearing In On May 29

    ABUJA – With barely 17 days to the scheduled swearing in of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, five residents of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, have approached the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court for an order to halt the ceremony. The plaintiffs, in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/578/2023, applied for an order, restraining the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, any other judicial officer and/or any other authority or person from swearing in any candidate in the February 25 presidential election as President or Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, until it is judicially determined with finality or in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution that such candidate has fulfilled the requirement of Section 134(2) (b) of the Constitution. Free Kanu As Parting Gift, Ohanaeze Begs Buhari

  Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide yesterday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to free the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu. President-General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, urged President Buhari , who he described as an Igbo son and honourary Ohanaeze member, to ensure Kanu’s release before May 29 as a parting gift to the Southeast. Iwuanyanwu spoke at the flag-off of the Oguta/Orashi Waterways hydrographic survey and dredging in Degema, Imo State. Kanu was charged with violating the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act 2013. The Court of Appeal in Abuja struck out the remaining seven charges after Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja had dismissed eight of the 15 amended counts. The appellate court held that Kanu’s extradition from Kenya in June 2021 was a flagrant violation of Nigeria’s extradition treaty and a breach of the IPOB leader’s fundamental human rights. Delta police apprehend criminals who specialise in trailing bank customers, break into their vehicles and cart away their money

  The police in Delta state has arrested members of a criminal syndicate that monitors customers who withdraw huge sum of money from banks, trail them, break into their vehicles at the slightest opportunity, and cart away their money and other valuables.    The Command's crack squad acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Izuchukwu Aniebue ‘m’ age 42yrs and Kingsley Nduka ‘m’ age 32yrs, in the premises of Association of Senior Civil Servant of Nigeria (ASCSN) along Mariam Babangida road Asaba. According to the police, the suspects trailed the unsuspecting victim from one of the new-generation banks at Nnebisi road, Asaba, where he went to withdraw some money.   Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect, has congratulated King Charles III of the United Kingdom on his coronation. The coronation took place on Saturday at London’s Westminster Abbey. King Charles III is the first to be inaugurated since 1937, and he is taking over the reign after the demise of Queen Elizabeth II, his mother in September 2022.
