The prime suspect in the murder case of Super TV boss, Usifo Ataga, Chidinma Ojukwu, arrived at the Lagos state High Court this morning November 30 for the continuation of her trial.   The trial was stalled on Monday, November 29, due to the absence of one of the witnesses. See more photos below  

21-year-old photographer arraigned for allegedly killing his pregnant girlfriend by giving her abortion pills in Adamawa

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, November 29, remanded a 21-year-old photographer, Muhammed Zubairu in prison custody over the death of his pregnant girlfriend, Miss Sane Fidelis   Muhammed, of Sabon Pegi, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, was arraigned for criminal conspiracy and causing death by an act done with an intent to cause abortion which contravened sections 60 and 204 of the penal code law. The suspect admitted impregnating Miss Fidelis as well as causing her death while trying to abort the pregnancy.   He was said to have conspired with a friend and administered the drugs to the deceased in an effort to carry out a clandestine abortion where they ended up terminating her life.   After administrating the drugs with an intention of killing the baby, Miss Sane Fidelis, developed some medical complication and subsequently died at the specialist hospital in Yola.   The matter was earlier reported to the police in May...

Police officer and FRSC special marshal killed in Ekiti bank robbery

A policeman and a special marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps were killed by a group armed robbery suspects who attacked an old generation bank in Aramoko-Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti West local government area of Ekiti State on Monday, November 29 after the close of work.     According to sources, the gun-wielding armed robbers blew the main door to the banking hall with explosives believed to be dynamite to gain access and also opened fire on a police officer who was on guard.   “The Special Marshall who was in his private vehicle was also not lucky as he ran into the barricade mounted by the armed robbers to prevent access to the area. He was shot and killed on his approach. Court reverses ex-Emir Sanusi’s banishment from Kano

Justice Anwuli Chikere of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has declared the banishment of the deposed Emir of Kano state, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, from the state as unconstitutional.    Delivering her judgment today, November 30, Justice Anwuli Chikere held that the Emirate Council Law, 2019, used by the state government in banishing Sanusi was in conflict with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.  She held that the country’s constitution was supreme and any law that ran contrary to it shall be null and void.The judge declared that the former emir had the right to live anywhere, including Kano State, as enshrined in the country’s constitution.   Sanusi, who was dethroned on March 9, 2020, had on March 12, 2020, sued the Inspector-General of Police and Director-General, Department of State Services over what he called ‘unlawful detention/confinement.’  Joined in the suit were the Attorney-General of Kano S...

Kenyan man hacks his wife and four children to death with axe

Shock has engulfed Kathata village in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County in Kenya, after a 35-year-old man brutally murdered his wife and four children.   Gichugu sub-county Police Commander, Anthony Mbogo, who confirmed the incident said the suspect identified as Paul Murage Njuki hacked his wife and children to death with an axe on Monday, November 29.    The victims have been identified as Millicent Muthoni, 38, Nelly Wawira, 13, Gifton Bundi aged seven, five-year-old Sheromit Wambui and Clifton Njuk, aged one.   Mbogo said that after Njuki slaughtered his family, he surrendered himself to the Kianyaga Police Station demanding to be arrested and locked for six months because he was selling bhang.    "I was shocked and ordered my officers to investigate him. NDLEA destroys 20,000 kilograms of illicit drugs worth N50b in Abuja

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Tuesday November 30, destroyed assorted illicit drugs worth over N50 billion in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.   Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa described the public destruction/burning of the 20 tons of assorted illicit drugs as a further affirmation of the resolve of the anti-narcotic agency to wage a total war against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.Marwa, who was represented by the Secretary of the agency, Bar.   Liverpool's Mo Salah has been voted the men's Player of the Year in a poll of 400,000 supporters, after netting 32 goals and counting, in all club competitions this calendar year.   The Egyptian international was named the best performer in 2021 at the Football Supporters' Association Awards on Monday.   Salah held off competition from Chelsea's Mason Mount, Man City pair Phil Foden, and Rúben Dias, West Ham United's Michail Antonio, and Leicester City's Youri Tielemans to claim the gong.   Last season, Salah, 29, netted 31 times in league and cup matches. Gateman attempts to sell his employer's N3m car for N350,000 in Calabar

  The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged man, Godswill Ezekiel Ugbe, for attempting to sell his employer’s car for a paltry N350,000 naira in Calabar.   The suspect was arrested by the anti-kidnapping and cultism Squad AKCS while driving the car to the potential buyer’s place around Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state.The feat is coming barely three days after PCRC awarded the Commander of AKCS (Dragon) SP Abdulhameed Awodi for quality Service to humanity, in their just-concluded security summit, in Calabar.   Security sources said, a Toyota Camry with Reg No: KT 114 LH was recovered through intelligence policing by the Dragon Squad.   It was gathered that while on patrol along Atimbo Akpabuyo Road, the Dragon squad sighted a Toyota Camry which they suspected was stolen and on approaching the vehicle, the driver zoomed off towards Bakassi where Dragon chased him and apprehended him.   The suspect, whose employer lives abroad...

  Elizabeth Jessica Kuraun, the sister to late Vanguard reporter, Tordue Henry Salem, said that she has aged overnight due to grief and depression following the death of her brother.    Salem, who was covering the House of Representatives, was found  dead  29 days after he went missing in Abuja."Deviating attention from my brother’s death to focus on my husband’s campaign has really helped psychologically. Don’t need hospital rest now. my family is looking up to me. Coping With Grief and Depression. Aged overnight but don’t care though." she wrote.

The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on some notable youths to attend a peace walk to herald the healing of the state following the Lekki tollgate shooting incident.   The government gave the invite during a press conference held at the state house, Alausa, Ikeja today November 30. We discovered Usifo Ataga’s body on his birthday - Witness tells court

A witness in the ongoing trial of undergraduate, Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the murder of Super TV boss, Chief Executive Officer, Usifo Ataga, has narrated how family and friends searched for him but found his body five days later in the mortuary on his birthday.   Rotimi Albert disclosed this while giving evidence as the fourth prosecution witness, before Justice Yetunde Adesanya of the Lagos High Court, sitting at the annex of the Tafawa Balewa Square today November 30.   Robert who introduced himself as a long time schoolmate and family friend to the late Mr. Ataga, said a mutual friend of theirs called him in the evening of June 16th and asked if he had seen or heard from the deceased, as no one had heard from him since Sunday (June 13th). World's first living robots can now reproduce, scientists claim

Scientists from the United States who created the first living robots known as xenoboys say the life forms, can now reproduce -- and in a way totally different from plants and animals.   Xenobots are formed from the stem cells of the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) from which it takes its name, and are less than a millimeter (0.04 inches) wide.  The tiny blobs were first unveiled in 2020 after experiments showed that they could move, work together in groups and self-heal.   Now the scientists that developed them at the University of Vermont, Tufts University and Harvard University's Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering said they have discovered an entirely new form of biological reproduction different from any animal or plant known to science.
