Kidnap victim escapes from bandits

A kidnapped victim who escaped from a terrorists’ enclave in Plateau has been rescued and reunited with his family following a security clearance operation in Wase Local Government Area of the state.

Security sources disclosed that troops of Sector 2 of Operation Enduring Peace, in conjunction with personnel of the Civilian Security Initiative (CSI) Battalion XIV, intercepted the victim during a clearance operation conducted on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Yuli Village in Wase LGA.

The victim, identified as Mallam Musa Muhammad, was reportedly found after escaping from his captors’ hideout.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Muhammad, a native of Pikat community in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau, was abducted by Fulani bandits in April 2026 while in neighbouring Bauchi State.

The victim managed to flee from the terrorists’ enclave and was subsequently intercepted by the troops during the operation.

He was debriefed by security personnel to obtain relevant intelligence on the activities of the criminal group before being reunited with his family.

The rescue is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to combat kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities across Plateau and neighbouring states.

Military authorities have continued to intensify clearance operations and intelligence-driven missions aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and securing vulnerable communities in the region.
