Senator buys APC gov form, joins race for A’Ibom

Former Akwa Ibom governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Senator John Udoedehe, has obtained the All Progressives Congress governorship form for 2015.
Udoedehe, who is the first APC aspirant in the South South zone to buy the form, warned the electorate against making wrong choices in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the party’s secretariat in Uyo on Monday shortly after obtaining the form, Udoedehe said the APC government will entrench a people’s government, adding that the Gov. Godswill Akpabio’s PDP-led administration has succeeded in impoverishing the people of the state.
The APC governorship hopeful, expressed sadness that despite the enormous resources accruing to the state, majority of the people are still living in abject poverty.
He stated that his coming into the race will change the political direction, because majority of the people are living in pains in the hands of the present-day government.
Udoedehe charged his teeming supporters to ensure that the PDP-led government is voted out of office to give way to new breed of leadership that will lead the state to the Promised Land.
He said, “This government has made nonsense of the people. There is no investment in the state except ‘begging’ industry. The situation is so dicey that the government induces people to beg for N1,000 and N500 to support a candidate.
“The process is as a result of a deliberate policy of this government to impoverish the people. This they do so that they can continue to rule over the people unchallenged.
“You have an opportunity to select your government. You have an alternative; if you do not do it, do not complain. God will not answer your prayers. He has given you the power and the right to make choices on whom you want.
“When you cast your vote, ensure that you do not leave the polling unit; give yourselves holiday that day so that you can determine who rules you.”
Udoedehe promised that he was going to bring an alternative government that will fulfill the people’s destiny.
He urged women to go to their local government headquarters and get forms for various offices in the party.
He vowed to end poverty in the state if voted into power.
National Vice-Chairman, South-South zone, Prince Hilliard Eta, said the party was not imposing any candidate on the people.
He stated that he only came to Akwa Ibom State to pay his respect to the senator as the first aspirant to obtain the party’s form in the zone.
