Gunmen Kidnap Foreign Workers In Bayelsa State

Three foreign workers have been abducted in Bayelsa state.
Vanguard reports that the three foreign workers were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday. It was made known that the foreigners whose nationalities have not been ascertained as at the time of filing this report were working for a construction firm called Elmerit when they were captured.
This kidnap event has ultimately pushed forward the high rate of insecurity in the riverine enclave of the state where pirates and other criminal elements have been terrorizing law abiding citizens.

The gunmen were said to have captured the foreigners at gunpoint while they were working on road projects in Emakalakala, Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state, dragging them into a waiting boat which sped away into the surrounding creeks.
Although no group has come forward to claim responsibility for the kidnap, a security source, who pleaded anonymity confirmed the abduction, saying that security operatives were already combing the area with a view to rescuing the victims and bring the perpetrators to book.
The Spokesman of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta code-named ‘Operation Pulo Shield’, Colonel Mustapha Anka, and the state Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Rowland Eboka could not be reached for comments.
It would be recalled that just few days ago, some men impersonated Nigeria’s business tycoon, Aliko Dangote, using it to abduct a reigning beauty queen.
